Getting to San Cristóbal: flights, ferries and entry checks
Choose the arrival island before booking tours. A flight to San Cristóbal brings you close to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno; a flight to Baltra begins a different transfer across Santa Cruz. The name “Galápagos” on a ticket or itinerary is not precise enough.
Updated
The short answer
Confirm the airport, complete official entry steps and keep an arrival buffer before a fixed boat excursion.
Check the airport and first night
San Cristóbal airport serves the island directly and sits close to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Check your accommodation’s transfer instructions and ask for a current quote if you need transport. We do not reproduce old taxi fares from legacy arrival pages.
If your flight lands at Baltra, you must arrange the crossing and ground journey to Santa Cruz before an inter-island boat. Compare the full sequence with your flight arrival, baggage collection and boat reporting time. Do not assume an afternoon connection works until the carrier confirms it.
Prepare three separate entry items
The TCT is issued through the official CGREG service. The conservation entry fee is a separate payment category, and adults also complete ABG’s digital goods declaration. The biosecurity agency ended paper declaration forms on 31 January 2026.
Use the official links rather than entering identity details into an unofficial travel form. Keep digital confirmations available offline and ensure names, travel dates and accommodation details match your actual trip. Follow the portal’s current instructions if your itinerary changes.
Budget for the correct visitor category
The core published adult conservation categories are US$200 for ordinary foreign visitors, US$100 for eligible CAN/Mercosur nationals and US$30 for Ecuadorian or Ecuador-resident visitors. The standard advance electronic TCT is US$20. Discounts, children and exemptions require the official full tables.
These amounts do not buy a day tour or cover every local transport charge. Ask separately about port charges, water taxis and any transfer included in your ticket. Keep the operator’s written breakdown with the booking.
Confirm the Santa Cruz boat in writing
DPNG describes passenger speedboat crossings between populated islands as roughly two to three hours, depending on sea conditions. Its overview is useful for that planning scale, but its published fare and departure table are not a verified 2026 timetable. Confirm your own sailing date directly.
Ask for the departure port, reporting time, vessel, luggage allowance and cancellation procedure. San Cristóbal–Isabela plans normally need a Santa Cruz connection unless a direct service is specifically confirmed. Treat each leg separately and leave a buffer before an onward flight.
Pack for inspection and a flexible arrival
Check ABG’s permitted-products rules before packing food, plants or other organic materials. Luggage checks also apply to inter-island movements. Keep travel documents accessible instead of buried in a checked bag.
Our suggestion is a light first afternoon and a full separate day for a fixed marine tour. Arrival delays should affect a waterfront walk before they jeopardize an expensive activity. Recheck carrier messages and official entry instructions shortly before departure.
